Today we played at home against Waverly Park, because three players were unavailable to play I changed the structure of the team. Jessica was moved down to the back line and Ella started in the middle, Mia was today’s captain, she won the toss and chose to kick against the wind which turned out to be a master stroke. In the first quarter we got off to a good start led by Amanda, Kelly, Mia, Lauren, Ella and Maddie unfortunately we were unable to score a goal Sharks 0-1 (1) Waverly 2-2 (14)

In the Second Quarter we continued our great team play and we had the ball locked in our forward line for half of the quarter  but we were unlucky not to kick a goal despite the girls trying very hard, Jessica, Ella, Kelly, Chloe, Marnie, Lara, Nicola and Emma all performed very well Sharks 0-4 (4) Waverly 3-3 (21)

At halftime I asked the girls to keep working hard, and to stay positive. But we had to start to convert our chances to stay in the game. We needed to apply some scoreboard pressure on Waverly Park In the Third quarter all the girls performed very well, they all played their roles well and we were able to kick two goals to keep in the touch with Waverly Park. It was very encouraging to see the girls response to my address at half time, They were led by Nicola Kelly Emma, Chloe and Imo Sharks 2-5 (17) Waverly 4-3 (27)

Well what can I say about the last quarter, without doubt the best quarter we have played so far this season! Every girl played their role and played it well. The defence were disciplined and  restricted the opposition from scoring heavily, the midfield were tireless in their pressure around the contest and the forwards were sensational! Led by Vicki and Maddie who both kicked 2 goals each. Kelly, Jessica, Imo, Emma, Marnie all performed well, in fact Marnie was Integral in us kicking the winning goal to seal the teams second victory of the season. Well Done Girls! Carl – Our scoreboard operator.

Mel – Our assistant from the St Kilda Sharks who attended to Victoria’s hand injury.

Seb  – For helping with the strapping of some of our girls before the match & finally the other St Kilda Sharks trainer (whose name I don’t know) who attended to Chloe’s nose injury. Your assistance to the girls is greatly appreciated.
