Sharks Announce Partnership With East Malvern Knights Youth Girls

The St Kilda Sharks are extremely excited to be partnering with the East Malvern Knights Youth Girls in 2016.

The partnership will provide a pathway from junior football into senior women’s football for Knights players.

In addition, it will also provide development opportunities for Sharks players who may be interested in coaching.

“It’s really exciting to be working with East Malvern Knights Youth Girls,” tells committee member and senior player Phoebe McWilliams.

“Hopefully this will lead to a number of talented young players coming to the Sharks with five or six years of footy under their belt. These players could become the future of our club.”

“The relationship is also important to show Knights players that it is possible to dream of becoming a women’s footballer. They will now be exposed to players who play in the VFL Women’s State League and women’s AFL, so they will see that there are opportunities available to them if they decide to pursue a future in football,” Phoebe explains.

The East Malvern Knights had their first training session and jumper presentation last Friday night in which three St Kilda players attended. Sharks players will continue to attend trainings throughout the Knights’ season.

The St Kilda Sharks look forward to working with the East Malvern Knights in developing future female football champions.
