The year was 2007, John Howard was serving his last year as prime minister, the Indianapolis Colts had just won the Superbowl, Jennifer Hudson was letting the world know she wasn’t going anywhere with a big win at the 79th Academy Awards and Keryn ‘Kez’ Ralph was strutting her stuff in Sharks colours for the very first time.
A hockey background that includes numerous state league one appearances and showdowns with Hockeyroos, has helped Kez through her 99 games with the Sharks.
Kez is a born leader and in 2012 she was the obvious choice to take over as Club president. Off the field she works tirelessly to improve and develop the club, on the field she’s a general in defense.
Keryn Ralph is a highly respected player, person and leader at the club and this week she’ll lead the reserves out for her 100th game and it’s only fitting that it’s at the Peanut Farm in St Kilda, the home turf of the club she has given so much to.
I could be politically correct and say she’s arguably the best president in the league, but I don’t know anything about politics and there’s nothing to argue, she is the best president in the league and she’s a big part of the reason the club is in the promising position it is in today.
In 2013 the league recognised her contribution to the game and awarded her the Ann Rulton award at the VWFL presentation night and the club also recognised her with the prestigious Jimmy Ryan Award for her hard work and contribution to the Sharks.
