Today the girls travelled all the way out to Ferntree Gully and the conditions were wet and cold, the ground was quite muddy,
We had a few girls missing which forced us to restructure the team as we knew that the opposition were a good team and we knew that we would have to work very hard to compete with them. Due to circumstances beyond our control our preparation was poor.
Our First quarter effort reflected this and we were unable to compete with or contain the opposition who were in top form.
Jessica, Mia, and Mali all played well. The Girls became a lot more accountable for their opponents in the second quarter and we were able to contain Ferntree Gully’s scoring which is a credit to all the girls. Mia, Ella, and Jessica led the way.
The third quarter was the same as the second as we continued to make improvements most notably how we kicked the ball in defence. By getting it to the pockets and also standing on the mark with our hands in the air. Jessica Mia and Ella again played well.
During the final quarter the girls battled hard and kept trying, we continued to improve each quarter and they did not give up which is pleasing as a Coach unfortunately we had a few girls come off due to injuries, but I am pleased to say they are all ok. Ella Mia Jessica and Maddie Axton all finished the game off well.
A good effort by the girls in tough conditions .
Jessica was today’s captain and played accordingly. The two trampoline awards went to Mali and Amanda and the grilled award went to Jessica.
Thanks to David, Mel, Daniel, Alison, Gadi and Michael for your assistance today and a big thank you to Imogen for keeping the girls hydrated.
